Mousewhisker A lithe, mousey-brown she-cat strolled into the center of camp, muscles rippling under her powerful shoulders. She launched herself onto the Highrock, yellow eyes flashing. Not many cats had permission to do this, but she'd already asked Hawkstar. Besides, she was his sister. She could get away with it. "Alright, I want apprentices and warriors alike out here, now!" she yowled, and couldn't help a cocky grin. "I'm going to teach you clumsy badgers how to fight when there's a mountain of snow under your paws."

. coldpaw . thunderclan . apprentice . male .
At the sound of Mousewhisker's voice, Coldpaw blinked open his eyes sleepily. Sunlight trickled through the roof of the apprentice's den, though it did not warm his white pelt. He flexed his claws, stretched his limbs, and yawned. "Wake up, everybody!" he called, nudging a couple apprentices on his way out. "C'mon, training session!" The young tom wriggled out into the clearing, ruffled his fur, and glanced up at Mousewhisker. He dipped his head respectfully before taking a seat below the Highrock. "They should be out soon." he grinned, nodding towards the den. "Most of them are half asleep, though."

"What do you mean half asleep?" Flamesprit have snapped, half joked. She padded from the entrance of the camp; a vole in front of her paws. She picked it up and padded to the fresh-kill pile, dropping the juicy fresh-kill. "Ok, let's go Mousewhisker... Coldpaw." She hesitated saying the apprentice's name. He was Hawkstar's son, not hers. He was Hawkstar's kin, not hers. She didn't have to be a mother to him, just a fierce warrior. That's all.

" we don't even have to try "
flowerpaw perked her ears at her brother's voice, and shot to her feet, as if she'd been hit by a bolt of lightning. excitement coursed through her as she scurried after him, her small, calico body easily slipping through the den entrance. she stood in the sunlight for a moment, adjusting her gaze, before she hurried over to him. "i'm gonna get you!" she yowled gleefully, launched into the air, and aimed to shove him into the snow.
" it's always a good time "
" and the saddest fear comes creeping in "
brackentwist followed after flamespirit, a plump mouse in her jaws. she hadn't been on a hunting party with her clanmate, but they happened to arrive home at the same time. the brown tabby sent a scornful look at the back of flamespirit's head, before setting her prey on the freshkill pile and moving to join them. she watched her kits, a smile playing across her mouth. it was good to know they weren't so serious all the time, especially flowerpaw. she had always been the playful one.

Cherrypaw scrambled after Coldpaw and Flowerpaw, eyes wide and eager. Her small body fit quickly through the den entrance, and a moment later, she tumbled into her siblings. "Hey guys! Training session? What are we learning?"

As more cats began to arrive, Mousewhisker hopped neatly down from the Highrock. "Alright, settle down you two." she mewed, giving Coldpaw and Flowerpaw a pointed look. With that, she turned to the rest of the group, and began. "To start, I want to see all of your techniques. Everyone find a partner. You'll spar with each other, and I will watch and give suggestions."

Flamespirit padded over to Flowerpaw. "Would you like to be my partner Flowerpaw?" She purred, looking at her apprentice. Her chest swelled with pride every time she looked at the she-cat. "If you want to of course." She added, her eyes warm.

" and the saddest fear comes creeping in "
brackentwist nodded as she listened to mousewhisker's instructions. yes, this would be excellent for training. looking around, brackentwist spotted coldpaw with his two sisters, and beckoned him towards her. "would you like to be my partner?"

" we don't even have to try "
flowerpaw opened her mouth, ready to ask her brother if he wanted to be her partner. mousewhisker may have told them to settle down, but they could continue their battle in training. flamespirit interrupted her, though, and she turned to face her with an eager smile. "yeah, sure!" she exclaimed, bouncing on her paws. she instinctively went into a crouch, then paused, and glanced over at mousewhisker. "um, mousewhisker? when do we start?"

a puff of air escaped coldpaw's lungs as something shoved him into the snow. the cold, powdery stuff melted in his mouth, and he struggled under the weight above him. "gerroff me!" he yowled, and was relieved when mousewhisker told them to settle down. he rolled over and aimed a playful swat at flowerpaw, before calming himself down and listening to his instructions. partners, sparring. sounded good to him. he flicked his ears in brackentwist's direction, and gave her a nod. "yeah, sure." he mewed with a smile. "i'll go easy on you."

Mousewhisker scanned the group of cats, nodding her approval as they all found partners. Her eyes drifted over to Cherrypaw, who seemed to be the odd one out. She flicked her mousey-brown tail and gave a smile, beckoning the young apprentice to her side. "Come sit with me." she mewed to her niece. "We can swap you in for someone else after the first round." The warrior's eyes flickered over to Flowerpaw, who seemed to be speaking to her, and her ears perked up. At the calico's question, Mousewhisker grinned. "You start...now."

Cherrypaw flattened her ears. So, none of her siblings liked her enough to be her partner? In fact, no one seemed to want to. Maybe t was because they were scared of her. Maybe she was just a good fighter. She tried to settle her mind on that thought, and headed towards Mousewhisker. "Good luck." she mewed grudgingly as she brushed past Flowerpaw, and took a seat beside her aunt.

" and the saddest fear comes creeping in "
"don't underestimate me." brackentwist laughed, then glanced over at mousewhisker. she sent cherrypaw a smile, knowing her daughter probably felt a little left out. she waited for the signal, and when it was given, turned on coldpaw with a mischievous glint in her green eyes. she didn't hesitate, but pounced forward, aiming a few swats at his shoulders.
" that you never loved me "
" we don't even have to try "
flowerpaw frowned as her sister walked by. "um...thanks." she mumbled, tilting her head to the side. why was cherrypaw acting so weird? she and flowerpaw had never gotten along well, but this kind of treatment was strange. mousewhisker gave the signal, and flowerpaw snapped back into training mode. she sent her mentor a grin, scampered forward, and aimed to slide under her belly and bat at it with her paws.

Blazeclaw ~ Tom ~ Warrior ~ 19 moons Blazeclaw trotted through the snow that littered the ground in soggy patches, deftly trying to escape the flakes that rained down on him from the moving branches above. He was making his way back towards camp from an unsuccessful hunting patrol when he heard the commotion, the stern voice of Mousewhisker rising above the rest. He cocked his head in confusion and picked up the pace, eager to discover to reason why Mousewhisker was summoning everyone. He trotted down the thin path towards the entrance when he spotted the faintest twitch of the bush that lay so near the camp. Prey never came this close! Maybe he was lucky? He crouched low, the movement in camp forgotten for a split second as he caught sight of the scrawny mouse that peeked it's head above ground. Quickly, before it could plunge back into the dirt, Blazeclaw shot a paw out from his cover and nicked the mouse behind it's neck, hooking the spine on one claw. The creature wiggled for a few second's before going limp. Happy with his catch, Blazeclaw darted back towards camp, bursting through the entrance and towards the pile so he could set his mouse down and examine the group that had begun to gather. He noticed that a few of the apprentices had been paired up with either other warriors or separate apprentices, each of the pairs sparring in a match between one another. He recognized Brackentwist and Coldpaw together and Flowerpaw and Flamespirit paired up. Cherrypaw seemed to be the only apprentice not joining in. Unless she was going with Mousewhisker of course. Curious, Blazeclaw padded up behind Mousewhisker, her seeming to be the one in charge, and spoke up, dipping his head respectively. "Hey Mousewhisker. You called us for something but I was behind on the hunting patrol that came back. Did I miss anything important?" He purred when he saw Cherrypaw and flicked his tail, a motion to say hello.

Cherrypaw looked up, wincing at the amount of noise Blazeclaw was making as he entered the camp. Her eyes followed him until he came towards Mousewhisker, and she returned his hello with a nod. Since her aunt seemed to be busy, she decided to answer Blazeclaw herself. "Battle training." she explained, nodding to the two scuffling pairs of cats. "We're learning to fight in the snow. Do you want to be my partner?"

Blazeclaw ~ Tom ~ Warrior ~ 19 Moons
Blazeclaw smiled, feeling happy to be a part of the training and welcomed into the group. "Sure!" He meowed happily, trotting over to a clear patch of snow, close to the group but with enough space for the two of them to battle. "We just go for it? Or are there certain moves that she would like to see from us?" He asked, facing Cherrypaw once more and parking his paws into the ground, trying to determine his best stance. He puffed out his fur against the cold, making him look twice his size but not wanting to frighten the she-cat. So he quickly flattened his pelt back down.
